
This year the emphasis of the intensive, multi-disciplinary training course will be on new trends in communication, disinformation, verification and mobile journalism.
The Academy will provide in-depth knowledge and robust skills on important topics and in media and communication. Participants will emerge with a better understanding of the latest academic research, policy, market and professional trends. They will also develop a network of colleagues to share their opinions, experiences and ideas.
The 2019 International Media Summer Academy will focus on these critically important issues:
1. New Trends in Media
2. Developing methods of news verification against disinformation
3. Mobile Journalism
4. Media Literacy
The Summer Academy intends to be a major forum where current issues and research
developments will be presented. For this purpose, eminent international scholars will be invited to share their expertise in the form of lectures, collaborative study designs, digital content development, and new models.
The program is structured around keynote presentations by distinguished experts, interactive small group work, and round table discussions.
The course will be run with a mix-method teaching style. It will includes lectures, discussion, small group work, policy lab and hands-on practicum.
Student participants will contribute by developing case studies in workshops, thus extending their methodological knowledge through hands on-practice.
Sessions will be led by experts from across communication fields, including research, policy
making, and media industries.
The Academy aims to select a total of 40 junior scholars, researchers or practitioners, having the following background:
Bachelor/ Master students of Journalism, political science, International relations, etc.
PhD Students of Journalism, Political Science, International relations etc.
Professionals from media and other related organisations who need a deeper understanding on the issues to be addressed.
